Itinerary

Hobart Pick Up and Depart
Pick up is from central Hobart city hotels and backpacker hostels. After pick up, the guide heads east out of Hobart and follows the coastline north toward Tasmania’s East Coast.

East Coast Drive: Orford and Swansea
The route travels through the seaside towns of Orford and Swansea on the way to Freycinet National Park.

Lunch Stop Before Freycinet
A stop is made in a regional town at a local bakery where travellers can purchase lunch and snacks to take into the national park. The selection usually includes sandwiches, rolls, and wraps. If you have dietary requirements, you may prefer to bring your own food.

Freycinet National Park: Wineglass Bay Lookout Walk
The group walks to the Wineglass Bay Lookout. This is one of the Great Short Walks of Tasmania and requires good mobility and general fitness. The track is 1.3 km uphill and usually takes around 45 to 60 minutes. At the lookout, there is time for photos and views over Wineglass Bay and the Hazards range.

Option 1: Return from the Lookout and Explore More of Freycinet
Travellers who choose the shorter walking option return from the lookout with the guide. The group then visits other locations in Freycinet National Park, including Honeymoon Bay, Sleepy Bay, and Cape Tourville.

Option 2: Wineglass Bay Beach Return Walk
Keen hikers can continue down from the lookout to Wineglass Bay Beach and return. This is a 2.5 hour return walk and moderate fitness is required. There is time to eat lunch at the beach, swim if conditions suit, and walk along the sand before returning.

Cape Tourville Lighthouse Walk
This easy grade walk takes around 20 minutes and includes lookout points with coastal views.

Regroup and Depart Freycinet
After time in the park, the group regroups for the drive north toward Launceston.

Afternoon Break: Devil’s Corner Winery
The final East Coast stop is Devil’s Corner Winery. There is time to take in the view and purchase items at your own expense. Options on site may include wine tasting, wood fired pizza, seafood, oysters, and ice creams.

Launceston Drop Off
Drop off is in Launceston central city in the evening.
